1.清华大学：中国工学老大搜狗排名，实力超群，名副其实的大学巨无霸。
2.北京大学：综合类大学老大，文科、理科、医科都是顶呱呱。
3.复旦大学：综合类大学老二，南方“小北大”，似乎什么都比北大差一点。
4.浙江大学：工学综合实力老二，南方“小清华”，比老大差得很远，化工类和电气类牛比，理科也不弱，合并院校的老大。
5.南京大学：理科实力超牛，让人总感觉是靠SCI发家致富。
6.上海交通大学：机械、电气、航海类实力强大，又合并了农学院、上海第二医科大学，越来越壮。成为与浙大在工科相抗衡的强大对手、大有超二望一的势头。
7.中国科技大学：典型高、精、尖、“精品大学”，学风正，最有资格成为中国的世界一流大学。

13.吉林大学：实力颇佳,曾是理科大学的老四，仅排在北大、中科大、复旦之后。90年代后因地域偏僻，人才流失严重，实力明显下滑。新吉大通过并校，成为超级大块头，目前学科建设发展平稳,特色不明显。又地处北疆, 生源一般。

15.南开大学：化学和数学实力不错，学风纯正，出了个名人陈省身。
16.中山大学：合并院校使其规模增大，好象只有哲学、历史学、基础医学、环境科学工程不错。
17.厦门大学：理论化学超牛，经济金融也很好；合并院校获得实惠，但因为合并的院校较少，尚未引起大家注意。
18.西安交通大学：管理、机械、电气通信类实力强大、学风正、感觉发展平稳。
19. 哈尔滨工业大学：工学实力是原来的二哥大, 80年代成为航天部的大学后，成为航空航天领域的强校，其他的学科也都不错。但地处北疆，生源一般。
20.北京航空航天大学：航空、航天实力强大,名声在外,是航空航天类大学的领头羊。
